A Thought From Me and Maya Angelou

I recently listened to an interview of Maya Angelou by the individuals who have created Awaken Into Action, Changing the World One Dream at A Time.  A few pieces of advice Maya Angelou spoke about that stood out to me are as follows:

Be the change you wish to see in the world. ~ Maya Angelou

Think It, Say It, Write It!  It is something you START every morning and BE IT all day long. ~ Maya Angelou

I have heard it said that practice makes perfect and that it takes 21 days to make any action or routine permanent.  If you are struggling to become the person you want to be or you are struggling to meet long term or short term goals, Maya’s words of advice could prove helpful.  In my opinion, change is hard work and it requires a vast amount of persistence to achieve change.  It has to be something that is truly desired and worked on daily.

The good news is that every day is a new day.  A new opportunity to work towards becoming the person you want to be, by achieving your goals.  If your day did not go as planned or you feel like you have fallen off the “bandwagon,” do not be hard on yourself. Recognize that tomorrow is a new day and a new chance for opportunities.  Allow yourself to put your grief or assumed failures behind you and start fresh.

Think it! Say it! Write it! Be it!  From start to finish every day.  Be persistent and change will surely follow.

“…everyday is a new day. A new opportunity to work toward becoming the person you want to be…” – Love that! Great advice indeed. I need to read more of Maya Angelou’s works and quotes. She’s definitely an inspiration.

Great advice that is especially applicable right now when so many are trying to inspire change in themselves with the start of the new year.
